Why do I need a web site?
According to Steve Strause, one of the country's leading small business experts, a well-made professional-looking Web site
is essential for any business. If you have a business,
you should have a Web site. Period. No question. Without a
doubt.
"Even if you're a small business or a professional
working alone, "when it comes to benefiting from
a Web site, size does not matter. Whether you are "a
one-man show or a 10,000-employee corporate giant; if
you don't have a Web site, you are losing business to
other companies that do.
"...you should at the very least have a presence
on the Web so that customers...can quickly and easily
find out more about your business and the products or
services you have to offer.
"That said, it's not enough that you just have
a Web site. You must have a professional-looking Web
site if you want to be taken seriously. Since many consumers
now search for information online prior to making a
purchase at a brick-and-mortar store, your Web site
may be the first chance you have at making a good impression
on a potential buyer. If your Web site looks like it
was designed by a barrel of colorblind monkeys, your
chance at making a good first impression will be lost. Your
Web site is an important part of your business. Make
sure you treat it as such."

How much will a web
site cost me?
In a nutshell, you need three things to get a web site
online: someone to create the web site, a domain name
(web address like www.mywebsite.com), and hosting (someone
to upload your web files on a web server and maintain
them).
Our rates are very competitive. We discuss how your
web site can help you with your business goals. Once
we have idea of what you need, we design a couple of
prototypes and provide you with estimates.
If you need a domain name, we charge only $15 to search
for and register your domain name. Your domain name
needs to be renewed each year.
We only charge $20 a month for basic hosting.

Do I need
to sign a contract?
No. In fact, we don't even require any up-front money.
If you're interested in a web site, we design a prototype
of your web site based on our discussions about your
business. You see the design and layout of the web site,
and know what it will cost before you pay any money.
After we present you with the prototype and the estimate,
you are free to continue work with us or walk away from
the project without owing us any money.
What is a domain name
and why do I need one?
A domain name is the address for a web page. Just like
your street address tells people where your house is
located, a domain name tells a web browser where your
web site is located. You need a domain name so people
can find your web site. Domain names are regulated and
overseen by ICANN, the organization that is responsible
for certifying companies as domain name registrars.
These companies charge a yearly fee for domain name
registration.

Why do I have to transfer
my domain name?
If we register your domain name, you don’t
have to worry about transferring your domain name to
our web server because we will do it for you.
If you or someone else has registered your domain name,
you will have to change the name servers to point to
our web servers. The name servers are the computers
that contain the information relating to your domain
name, including the address of the web server that contains
your web files. There is a primary name server and a
secondary name server. Transferring your domain name
essentially means supplying the name servers with the
address of the web servers that contain your web files
so web users will be directed to your web site.
This is easier than it sounds. Your domain name registrar
has instructions on its web site on how to change your
name servers. If you can figure out how to do it yourself,
you will need our name server information:
Primary Name Server: ns.nshosts.com
Secondary Name Server: ns2.nshosts.com
If you are completely lost (and most people are), please
don't worry about a thing. We can walk you through this
process or do if for you at no extra charge.

What is web hosting?
Web hosting is renting a space on a web server. In order
for people to access your web site, your web files need
to reside on a web server. A web server is a computer
that delivers (serves up) web pages. For example, if
you enter the URL http://www.yourcompany.com in your
browser, this sends a request to the server whose domain
name is yourcompany.com. The server then fetches the
requested page and sends it to your browser.
What is Search Engine
Optimization?
When you type keywords into the text box of a search
engine such as Google or Yahoo, the search engine combs
through its huge databases to find web pages that result
in a match. The goal of search engine optimization is
to get your key web site information into search engine
databases so web users can find your web site.
There are hundreds of search engines. Search engines
are different and use different procedures to compile
their information. For example, Google develops its
databases by crawling the web with spiders, which are
automated programs that travel from one web site to
another collecting information to bring back to their
gigantic databases. Yahoo, on the other hand, compiles
its information by human and computer resources.
Search engines look at certain parts of the source
code of your web page to extract its information. By
optimization your source code—placing keywords
and phrases in key locations and structuring your web
site with search engines in mind—you improve your
odds at being found.

How long does it take
to get my web site online?
Once we have completed your web site, we need to resolve
your domain name to our servers and upload your files.
On an average, this process takes from 48 to 72 hours.
If we registered your domain name, then we could have
your web site online within 24 hours.
Can I get email accounts
containing my domain name?
Yes! For example, if your name is Buford and your domain
name is bigkahuna.com, you can get an email account
named buford@bigkahuna.com. We can set up email forwarding
or web-based email.
What is Web-based email?
Web-based email is accessed from a web site that contains
your email messages. Hotmail is an example of web-based
email. Web-based email gives you the ability to send
and receive email without the need to configure your
email client. The benefits of this include the ability
to access your email anywhere, on any computer as long
as you have web access.
